Just make a manual, diesel, 2-Series and bring it to America. I live in an areas where the 3-Series is more common than a Civic, and the X5 is almost as bad. I just could never buy a "normal" Bimmer and respect myself.

Why not ask to make it rear engined as well?

Enjoy the next platform that'll underpin everything below the 3-Series soon. FWD.

The 2 will remain RWD.

And I live in a poor area where my base Mini Cooper could be considered a luxury vehicle.

Why does it have to be diesel? Because diesel is cool according to internet commenters? You can get a gas 2-series with a manual, close enough.

Waste of time, I wont get one until is has 2 engines, turbine in the front, diesel in the rear. Both are used to charge the batteries for the electric motors (1 for each wheel).

That's the type of town I came from. VW was considered a lux brand, and Volvo was an ultra-lux.

I wasn't asking for anything out of the ordinary. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure they sell this exact car in Europe.

Because if I get a german car, I would want diesel. I like diesel now, there's just no affordable performance diesels out there in America.

Well, crap.

Now I ran off to research, read some articles on the 1 er v 3 er relationship and am now aware that F30 and F20 (1 er since 2011) share a platform ... for now !

Sauce: http://www.spiegel.de/auto/aktuell/b…

Yup. Zee Mini, zee BMW Active Tourer, as well as the 1er/2er successors will share a platform. A platform that'll give you either FWD or xDrive. I wonder what creative magic they will work to make that attractive.

Yeah. With the new ones, the 2 is basically a continuation of the old 1 line. And the new 1 will become an upscale Mini.

No, it's the Audi R18 TDI LeMans car.

You just said performance diesel. You made a blanket statement saying diesel could never fuel a performance car.

Anything seen in a race car will eventually trickle down to street cars. If they can build that, there's nothing to say it won't spin off a street car with what they're learning at Le Mans. They even had a supercar planned for a TDI setup.

I'd settle for something naturally aspirated but powerful, not overly bloated, without 73 computers analyzing every driver input, that doesn't require a 2-year course to know how to change the oil.

Seriously, I'm a pretty huge BMW fanboy, and I'm not even considering any bimmers in my current DD hunt. They just don't make anything that interests me. Right now it's looking like CTS or SS.

I've spent a lot of time thinking about that actually. I will as soon as they come down a bit in price. Even higher miles 2010 are over 20k. But yeah, with an upgraded fuel pump and the APR reflash, hell of a little sleeper.

If you want a manual, it sounds like a G8 GXP or a 2008-2013 CTS 3.6 DI would be the right choices for you.

Nah. I spend enough time in traffic that I prefer a slushbox for the DD. I have a couple manual hoonmobiles in the stable for when I want to get some serious driving done.

I'm leaning pretty hard towards the SS. Thing is excellent. I'm trying to drive a Taurus SHO before I make a decision though.
